Good Evening, Jim

Just wanted to say that I really enjoy looking at this site. I first became interested in Alexander Carrick when I found his daughter Anne's wonderful figures in Smailholm Tower and started researching her work. Eventually I discovered more about her father, and, as he was born in Musselburgh (where my husband originates from and where his mother still lives), I wanted to research him too. I have used your site lots of times and still do, as I am doing a project about both Alexander and Anne for part of the Gold Level of my Discovery Award - an award similar to Duke of Edinburgh Award, but for the over 50s. I have been out and about photographing many of Alexander's work and tracking down as many of Anne's wonderful figures as I can possibly find and it has been a journey of Discovery, right enough! I have still to put all my information together in a record - something I hope to do over my Christmas holidays ( I am a primary school teacher, so haven't got a lot of free time at the moment!). I have visited the house in Midlem where Alexander lived, and, in fact, the owner allowed my mother and myself to go through the house into the back garden where there are still some pieces of sculpture, presumably by Alexander himself. I was wondering if you know where the cottage in Darnick is, as I can't find out, even although I visited the village and one of the inhabitants promised to get back to me, but, unfortunately, didn't. I would also like to ask you one or two questions by phone, if that is possible? If you reply to this email, perhaps I could give you my phone number? I hope you don't mind my asking this.

Once again, thank you so much for the fantastic website. It's on my Favourites list!
