North Berwick, Tranent and Moffat

Carrick's yard was also responsible for the mercat cross style memorials at North Berwick, Tranent and Moffat. They also carried out numerous on site works for other sculptors such as the bronze wreaths for the Jedburgh memorial and the on site construction and stone carving for R. Tait MacKenzie's Scottish-American War Memorial in Edinburgh's Princes Street Gardens.

Carrick actively involved his students in his commissions, encouraging and seeking out opportunities for their work. The unicorn at the top of the North Berwick memorial was by Phyllis Bone, one of Carrick's students and a near contemporary who remained a close friend. This unicorn was her first commission at the age of 25 and she went on to establish an international reputation as an animal sculptor with works including the Lion and Unicorn at the entrance to the Scottish National War Memorial in Edinburgh Castle (see Students)
