Lochawe

Its interesting to consider that the early 1920's saw the emergence of the 'Scottish Rennaisance' as proclaimed by writer Hugh McDiarmid with its aim to re-establish the place of art at the heart of the community and

to bring about a re-birth of Scottish art, drawing on our ancient cultural and historic roots while creating works which were relevant to the modern and wider world.

Although no part of this movement Carrick, at Lochawe, Killin and Oban was doing exactly this, and in the case of Lochawe, unveiled in 1920, he actually anticipated these ideas by two or three years.
