Classical symmetry
Carrick's 'Justice' often features in Scottish television news items covering trials held in the Sheriff Court, while his nearby William Wallce frequently appears on broadcasts on Edinburgh Castle.

Working within the confines of the architectural space Carrick abandoned the traditional portrayal of Blind Justice holding sword and scales in outstretched hands. Instead the sword has become the central focus of the work while the perfect balancing of her stylised scales is subtly re-enforced by the symmetry of the sculpture itself.
