Below Left - a Carrick sketch which he appears to hae reproduced on a small postcard, perhaps photographed by his friend the Belgian artist Beun? The ruins in the distance are almost certainly Ypres.

Below Right a collage of sketches on Carrick's notebook showing an 8" howitzer.

The subject matter and linear composition of the sketches suggest that Carrick certainly drew on his sketch book as a source for the artillery and engineers panel designs.
