Fraserburgh 4

Photograph of one of my old postcards featuring the Fraserburgh war memorial in the 1930's. Its easy to forget the impact that many war memorials would have made in many small communities, and the way in which they would have dominated the townscape, in the inter war years.

Today our streets has become cluttered with street architecture, railings, bollards, and a plethora of signs and advertising hoardings which all demand our attention. In the 1920's monuments such as that of Fraserburgh stood in striking isolation and were a powerful focal point of remembrance.
